When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment with a retainer. The retention phase lasts for a minimum of 24 months. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far. Remember to remove your retainer before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth.
Your retainer is a custom made appliance that will help keep your teeth looking good once your braces are removed. Remember to wear your retainer at the entire time you are instructed to.
Cleaning Your Retainer
Cleaning your retainer is very important. Brushing with your toothpaste is the recommended way of cleaning your retainer. If you start having trouble with staining or an odor, then use a half vinegar/half water solution.
